Arrived near the Saulces-Monclin Ardennes motorway service area (exit 14), 14 km from Rethel, Woinic appears, proudly planted on his feet, his mouth slightly open, his ears on the alert.
This monumental creature is the work of foundry artist Eric Sleziak. For 11 years, he welded thousands of metal plates. 12000 working hours in allt. Made in the artist's foundry workshop in Bogny-sur-Meuse, this giant metal boar left the Meuse Valley in 2008 to reach the entrance to the Ardennes department (coming from Reims), during an absolutely exceptional convoy.

His transhumance lasted 3 days to end on August 8, 2008: 08/08/08, a highly symbolic date for the department of 08. This very festive event brought together 120000 people along the way, who came to greet a major emblem of the department. Because Woinic symbolizes strong values of the Ardennes: the wild boar, the metallurgical power, the perseverance, the courage, the hard work and also the conviviality and the grain of fantasy which make the Ardennes an endearing terroir where to live unique experiences.
