Pressoir de Margy

Last in France, this press located at Old Saint Remy, in the hamlet of Margy, dates from the 17th century.
A gear system imagined and developed by Leonardo da Vinci, this tool works without a cage, using a horse-drawn carousel.
It brings together in one place: the press table, the crusher and the riding arena, which makes it unique.
Made of oak wood, the press table supports the mound of straw and crushed apples, cleverly positioned in the absence of a cage; the crusher was operated by a horse which turns the merry-go-round (made of chestnut wood).

Preserved and saved by the Pressoir de Margy association since 1995, it is now run by the Pressoir Originel de Margy "POM" association, which organizes the Pressoir festival every two years and brings this exceptional heritage back to life for a day with a flea market, exhibitions by local artists and hot food.
Visits are possible all year round, by reservation, preferably one week in advance, at the rate of €3 per person (tasting included)
Sale of apple juice in partnership with Vergers Courtois de Suzanne (08130).
