Lake Bairon

In the middle of the countryside, in a setting that is both rural and wooded, the Lake Bairon offers a true parenthesis of tranquility 100% nature. The first town (The chesne) is 3 km away. A campsite and two restaurants allow you to stay put without having to move other than to walk or have fun.

A haven for ornithologists

The 120 ha lake is separated from an old pond and its reed bed by a dyke dated 16^e century, when monks practiced aquaculture there. Today, herons, grebes, coots among others, have taken up residence on this listed site. Natura 2000. 150 species of birds have been recorded there, especially during the migration period in spring and autumn. It is not uncommon to see geese, cranes, etc.

In order to be able to contemplate the birds in complete serenity, a new ornithological observatory has been installed at the old Bairon pond.

Themed hikes and marked trails

To soak up the place, a discovery trail was designed to tour the old pond and its reed bed independently (4,5 km). The Bairon site is a starting point for several marked hiking trails, on foot or by bike. Of the guided themed hikes are also held there throughout the year.

Free entertainment all summer

A beautiful beach borders the big lake. In addition to a very beautiful view of the forest and the surrounding nature, it offers relaxation and fun with a playground available for the youngest. In summer, swimming is supervised there. from 13 p.m. to 19 p.m. and entertainment takes place daily. Sporting or cultural, they are completely free and open to all generations.

Blue Flag 2024 for Lake Bairon

An environmental and tourist quality label, Bairon Lake has obtained the coveted Blue Flag. The site is the only beach in the Grand Est to receive this distinction.

Electric scooters

A few steps away, the nautical base animated by the Bairon Nautic Club offers activities on the water that allow you to discover the places differently: pedal boat, canoe, paddle, windsurfing, optimist, catamaran… Enjoy another original walk in electric scooter with Trott d'Argonne. So many experiences to enjoy as a beginner or an expert, solo, as a duo, with family or friends. Additionally, a space is also reserved for fishermen card holders.
