The cemetery is the military square reserved for the graves of combatants who died for France in 1870 on the territory of the municipality of Floing and its outskirts.
In the axis of the entrance is the large stele alongside which are distributed 16 steles along the back wall.
Those who climb the slopes that lead from the church of Floing to this cemetery and to the Terme plateau may have a double reaction when walking: the happiness of seeing a magnificent landscape is most often followed by the impression of reliving the bloody Calvary of a few thousand heroic horsemen who, at the end of a lost battle, sacrificed themselves to save honor.
In less than two hours, on the afternoon of September 1, 1870, launched into mind-blowing cavalry charges, more than a thousand of them fell struck down by the intense fire of enemy skirmishers who had managed to take position in ranks squeezed into the hillside of Le Terme.
