What aromatic herbs were used in the Middle Ages? How was linen woven? How did the knights fight? These are all questions to which you will find answers during the Sedan Medieval Festival. Indeed, numerous historical reconstruction companies set up camp there for two days to present the activities of daily life in the Middle Ages: cooking, calligraphy, blacksmithing, weaving...
Initiation workshops, fights and medieval tournaments
This is why the Sedan medieval festival is a fantastic opportunity to participate in original workshops and learn about unusual activities like crossbow shooting or medieval fencinge. Because weapons and war machines are of course also on the program. Moreover, many knights come specially to fight it out. Fighting demonstrations and fencing tournaments are fortunately organized to calm them down! Enjoy the show! Because good humor and conviviality are obviously essential.
Taverns and a medieval market
Stroll from tents to taverns, wander around the moat where you can also attend activities: medieval street arts, dance, concerts... Shows, arts and crafts, activities for children… It is even possible to attend medieval weddings ! A real abundance awaits you. It is also an opportunity to take advantage of medieval market. It has nearly a hundred European exhibitors.
Great return of chivalry tournaments
This year, the festival will be notably marked by the return of chivalry tournaments, very popular with the public. And for the first time, a complete space will be reserved for them because the tournaments will take place in the parking lot of the Deux châteaux and visitors will be able to attend the show, sitting in the stands.
There will even be a nighttime tournament on Saturday evening from 22 p.m. to 23 p.m.!

The fire festival
On Saturday evening, a night parade is organized with all troops and companies. It will leave the Château courtyard at 20:30 p.m. Then don't miss the big news: the night show “Of fire and light”, Saturday evening at 22 p.m. (Rhésus concert, accompanied by jugglers and fire eaters). Finally, closing the evening with a fireworks which will illuminate the walls of the Castle. The market will remain open at night.
The Sedan Medieval Festival is an ideal weekend to discover the fortified castle of Sedan in an extraordinary atmosphere and dive headlong into the Middle Ages.
Duration:
The festival is open from 10 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 19 p.m. on Sunday.
The ticket offices will be open from 10 a.m. to 19 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 17 p.m. on Sunday.
The visit to the castle is in addition to entry to the festival at the single price of €6 per person from 8 years old.
