This is what they say about the Ardennes

Oh the Ardennes! Between Belgium and France, this wild territory deserves a lot of attention. It was with great pleasure that we set out to discover the French Ardennes and the treasures that dot this department in the north-east of France. You are going to tell us: but what to do in the Ardennes? Frankly, we were very pleasantly surprised by the diversity of activities and places to see in the department. Between sport in nature, visit of the historical heritage, walk along the streets of Charleville-Mézières or Rocroi, you will not have time to get bored...

This is what they say about the Ardennes

We had been planning this bike trip since 2018 and were looking forward to heading to the Grand Est region to experience EuroVelo 19. It ticks all the boxes for us: hills, rural areas, plateaus, varied landscapes , a relatively unknown and little touristy region, nice towns and a route along the water but not always at the water's edge which is great, because you can get tired of it after a moment. The big bonus of the Meuse à Vélo is that it really recovers the river at its source, which is not the case on EuroVelo 6 when you recover the Danube. It's fascinating to see it evolve over the laps of the wheel. With its cliffs and limestone lawns, its valleys and plateaus, the region is really nice, which makes it a very rich itinerary in discoveries!

Book of getaways

Who is hiding behind the blog “Carnet d'escapades”? Laurène, 35 years old, Breton living in Alsace and passionate about travel, sport and horses. Naturally curious and enthusiastic, she shares with her small and big discoveries on this blog since 2011.

His credo? You don't always have to go far to be amazed...

This is what she says about the Ardennes

(…) the Meuse by bike is a nice route for a bike trip in France and Europe. It is varied, quiet, allows you to make nice visits along the way and I found it great to see the evolution of the river as you go. (…) On the Ardennes part, from Mouzon, the route always follows the Voie Verte Trans-Ardennes: we are on a cycle path completely away from cars, often along the water, c is very pleasant. This part of the route is very easy: protected, completely flat, paved all along, it can easily be suitable for a family audience. You can easily do it on a road bike.
