Review of the 2023 tourist pre-season (May – June)

First wave of the survey carried out among all tourist service providers, excluding restaurants. Questionnaire drawn up by the Regional Tourism Observatory in partnership with the participating departments. 78 establishments responding to the survey.

A – Average score awarded by service providers in the pre-season: 6.9/10

  • Average TO in May: 58%
  • Average TO in June: 55% (TO = occupancy rate)

Stability, for the French and for foreigners

C – Interest of visitors (top 3 reason for their stay):

1 – The discovery of nature.

2 – Calmness, family

3 – The discovery of the heritage, the local culture

D – Trends observed (top 3):

1 – Increase in last minute sales

2 – Reduced length of stay

3 – Choice of proximity due to fuel prices

E – Factors that influenced attendance (top 3):

1 – Weather.

2 – Decline in purchasing power

3 – Return of certain clienteles

G – Outlook for July-August compared to summer 2022:

  • Stability or slight increase.
