Chapelle Sainte-Barbe
Chapel erected in 1821 and dedicated to Sainte Barbe, patroness of Ardoisiers.
The Chapel was erected on the former Fosse des Trépassés, one of the most important slate pits in the town in the XNUMXth century.
Note on the slate roof, a cross is emerging.
Opposite this chapel, you will discover what is called a verdeau, that is to say a pile of unusable slate debris, which forms a kind of slag heap.
But be careful… Don’t call them slag heaps. In the jargon of slate workers, these artificial hills made by accumulating slate waste are indeed verdeaux.

The Chapel is located rue Sainte-Barbe, opposite the rue des jardiniers.
