The Ardennes department is a French department located in the Grand Est region (formerly Champagne-Ardenne region). Its inhabitants are called Ardennais and Ardennaise. The capital of the Department of the Ardennes is the commune of Charleville-Mézières.
The department extends over 5 km² and has 229,5 inhabitants since the last population census. The population density is 270 inhabitants per km² in the department.
