The start of the Vrigne Aux Bois forest botanical trail is located in the municipal park, which was originally the pleasure park of the castle built by the Master of the Forge, Jean Nicolas Gendarme, in 1820. It therefore contains multi-centenary trees that dominate the city. Access to the park is free and the start of the trail is located to the right of the church. Its route is a 1,8km loop that goes around the outside of the park in 1 hour by a beautiful marked path, easily accessible.
It allows you to discover 20 forest species through 23 desk panels.
This trail is also a digital trail. With your smartphone, you can scan a QR code to obtain additional information on each species. As such, it is referenced nationally on the Smart Flore network.
Route 2:
The start of this discovery trail at the Forge Gendarme is located at Place Baudin in the heart of Vrigne Aux Bois. It consists of a 2km long loop around the main pond of the Forge Gendarme.
This flat circuit is suitable for everyone. At one point you will come across a “staircase bridge” with benches.
It allows you to understand how the rivers Vrigne and Claire were used to exploit their hydraulic energy to the maximum. 8 educational panels will allow you to discover this place.
This trail also contains a fitness trail as well as a mini educational orchard.
