What charm surrounds Mouzon, a little gem of the Portes du Luxembourg placed on the Meuse.
She was at 5e century a gift from Clovis to the Archbishop of Reims, Remi, to thank him for having baptized him. Labeled Small Towns of Character®, this border town owes its heritage to centuries of both religious and warlike history until the 17e century, then to industry and in particular that of wool felt thanks to the Sommer family.



Take the time to survey its narrow streets and squares with a medieval atmosphere, observe its typical houses often adorned with a beuquette (round window in the kitchen which lights the sink and allows you to beuquer, supervise), let yourself be surprised by unexpected authentic vestiges: the tower of the Porte de Bourgogne (12e century) which belonged to the old fortifications, thea Spanish House superb half-timbered residence which now houses a renowned restaurant, an old dovecote or, the abbey gardens which recall the importance of the presence of the Benedictines in Mouzon from the 10e century.
Museum-workshop of wool felt, unique in France
The abbey church (12e and 13e century) of the first Gothic is an essential stage with its Moucherel's organ (1725) and his recluse cell. Also don't miss the Wool Felt Museum-Workshop, the only one in France. A complete panorama of the uses of felt is shown there, from the traditional to the most innovative, with original haute couture pieces including a wedding dress and its veil.
