Escape to the countryside at Domain of Vendresse, former property of forge master Jean-Nicolas Gendarme. Share experiences between fire and water, in this large 4 ha park which surrounds a centerpiece of the Ardennes industrial heritage: a blast furnace from the beginning of the 19e century.
The sound and light of the Haut-Fourneau de Vendresse
In the hall of Blast Furnace of Vendresse, a sound and light show offers an understanding of how it works while retracing the history of the place and Jean-Nicolas Gendarme. Because this forge master occupied a prominent place in the development of the metallurgy in the Ardennes. When the forge closes, a fish farming was created at the beginning of the 20e century.
Tease the trout
Today, its ponds and basins are once again in operation and offer beginners and experts alike the opportunity to tease the trout. Rainbow, fario, salmon, gold… Choose the one you want to taste at home, before casting one of the fishing rods available on site. Don't want to fish but greedy? The Blast Furnace Brewery offers the Domaine's trout on the menu.
A tactile pool for stroking the fish
Then, continue your visit by discovering the aquariums and terrariums installed in the old coal hall of the Haut-Fourneau. More than 1000 fish live there as well as frogs, or turtles from Florida and Africa. Outside, stroke the carp and sturgeon in a unique touch pool in the Grand Est region.
Bébert, the giant sturgeon
Finally, take a walk in the park to discover the play areas originals: water, sand and balance games… And a formidable wooden fish 11 m long, 3 m wide and 4 m high, a new playground for children since 2021. A hell of a competitor for Bébert, the giant sturgeon and mascot of the estate : 1,80 meterss long and weighing 35 kg. Every year, he celebrates his birthday at the Domaine. He is celebrating his 45th birthday this year, in 2025!

La fish farming is accessible independently of the Domain, to experts and beginners alike. In addition to kilo fishing, No Kill sport fishing is practiced in the small pond.
