The strategic position of Givet (on the Belgian border) made it a privileged place for invasions. Thus, you will be able to see on the route many historical testimonies such as the blockhouses of Mont-d'Haurs, covered with vegetation.

From the information panel, near the start of the greenway and with your back to the Meuse, head diagonally left along Rue Bouzy for a few meters. Climb right to the Grégoire Tower, following the wider path. Head left to the tower's viewpoint.
1/ Go back down the main path and climb between the thorny bushes and the water tower. At the fork, continue left along the edge of the field, towards the television transmitter.
2/ Enter the undergrowth and follow the nature trail on the fortification line (follow the markings carefully).
3/ At the last viewpoint at the top of the walls, the path descends to the right towards a pasture. Follow the brush on the right then, at the "Nature Reserve" marker, descend along the hedge towards the eastern point of the Charlemont Citadel.
4/ Continue down a wide path then a street to the Rancennes quay. On the right, return to the starting point.
