Escapades sur les Crêtes n°42 – La vallée de la Vaux (Wasigny – 13,9km)

As you follow this trail number 42, follow the Vaux Valley and discover the 15th and 16th century buildings in the village of Wasigny: its market hall in the center of the village, and its castle located on an estate on the edge of the village. The Vaux and its mill are also must-see features on this trail.
At the departure sign, go down rue “Jean Jaurès” and turn left at the crossroads.
At the next bend, continue straight on “Rue Basse” towards the mill footbridge.
Immediately after this, turn right then, at the playground, turn right to go along the wash house and the park of the Château de Wasigny.
Then continue for 800m to reach La Neuville-lès-Wasigny. Then turn left (marker 6/27) onto the steep path that joins the road.
Continue straight ahead, passing near the farm.
At the bottom of the descent, turn right to follow the “Chemin de la garenne Vincent”, ending with the descent towards “La Ficelle”.
Turn left and continue along the woods and the formerly industrial valley of Vaux.
At the “Le bois de Plaincourt” crossroads, continue straight ahead towards the village of Lalobbe.
After the village square, turn right onto “Rue de l'Église” (marker 15/27).
Cross the bridge over the Vaux and turn right to follow this stream (marker 17/27).
Continue straight on for 620m to reach the departmental road.
Then take the climb on the left towards “Sauge aux bois”.
Cross this hamlet then, after 500m, at the bend, continue straight ahead taking the “Route forestière du Bois du Château”.
At the exit of this forest road, turn right (marker 21/27) to take the road for a while.
600m further on, leave this one to enter the path on the left leading to a very busy road.
Then turn right then left 50m further on to get back on the path (a grassy path runs alongside this short section of road and allows you to avoid using it).
At the Chaisy cross, turn right to return towards Wasigny.
In the village, turn left to return to your starting point.
