Escapades sur les Crêtes n°38 – Aux portes du Porcien (Novion-Porcien – 11,6km)

Description
Starting from Novion-Porcien and this trail n°38, you will follow both meadows and the "Plumion" stream. You will see the old Novion-Porcien quarry and will slowly take in the brick buildings and the mountains standing out in the landscape.
At the start sign, head to the right of the start sign onto “Rue du Culot”.
After 200m, turn right to take the grassy path.
Continue for 500m then continue on the path on the left, where you can discover many plant species.
Further down, after 300m, turn right before continuing on the path then turning right again to follow the “Le Plumion” stream.
At the farm, turn left (marker 6/28) then right to join the road.
At the Provisy bridge, turn left then right a few meters further to follow the “Plumion” stream.
At the second bridge, turn left to take the “impasse des quatre vents” for 330m.
At the hangar, take the left path (marker 10/28).
Continue to the road and continue on the path opposite, crossing the D14.
Join another section of road 100m further on and cross the D21.
Continue straight for 1km until you reach “Rue de la Marlière”.
This time, cross the D8 to continue on the path which will take you to the right of a metal silo and continue until you cross a ford before going back up onto a road.
Here, turn left (marker 17/28) then 100m further on, turn right to take a new path. This will lead you to the old quarry.
Go down this path to reach the road. Then turn right (marker 20/28).
Continue on this road for 390m before turning left and 180m further on, take the left path (marker 23/28) which will take you over a metal footbridge.
Climb the hill for a distance of 1,3 km then cross the courtyard of the “Ferme de la Herse” to reach the road to Rethel.
Turn left (marker 25/28) then walk along this road for 300m.
Then turn right towards the multi-purpose hall. After the police station, turn left.
Continue straight ahead in the alley opposite to reach your starting point.
