Escapades sur les Crêtes n°14 – Le bois de la Vierge (Vendresse – 5,1km)

Starting from Vendresse and its tourist resort, discover part of the immense forest that stretches around the village via this trail number 14. This very pleasant setting will allow you to discover the Ardennes metallurgy of the XNUMXth century.
At the departure sign, turn left from the Town Hall towards the Bois de la Vierge.
Pass the Château, take the path on the right and continue straight on for 1km to reach the Bois de la Vierge arboretum.
Then take the path on the right and, after the forest barriers, turn left then immediately right.
Then continue straight through the woods for 850m during which you will cross two intersections.
When you reach marker number 10/14, turn right to exit the woods.
You will then see opposite the Vendresse ponds and the Morteau farm, which owes its name to the marshes surrounding it (morte-eau).
Return to Vendresse through the fields for a 1,8km section.
Go past the football pitch then, once you reach the main road, turn right to enter the village.
Continue straight on “Rue Pol Bouin” for 500m which will take you past the fortified church of Saint-Martin (on which a revolutionary inscription remains above the door of its north facade).
Return to your starting point.
