Staying without a car in the Ardennes is possible. Train, bus, bicycle… Several alternatives to the individual car exist.

First of all, the department is served by train. The TGV line arriving from Paris and Reims will transport you quickly to Rethel, Charleville-Mézières and Sedan. As for the TER lines, they propose to connect Charleville-Mézières to Givet, with a rate of one train every hour.

Free transport of bicycles by TER

Then, soft transport is easily usable, in particular thanks to the constantly developing cycle network, in town and in the countryside. What's more, the bicycle is accepted free of charge in the TER where spaces are arranged for its transport. This great facility makes it possible, for example, to explore the Voie Verte in one direction and then return by train in the other direction.

In addition, bus networks townsfolk, community and departmental (RDTA) are another interesting option. They offer the possibility of reaching many municipalities in the Ardennes. The Grand-Est region developed the application and the website Fluo-Grand-Est to help users plan their journeys taking into account all existing means of transport. You indicate a starting point, a destination, a schedule and the application suggests a path, the possible means of transport and the necessary travel time.

Anticipate your stay

Still another possibility on the Ardennes Argonne (Vouziers, Attigny, Le Chesne…), hitchhiking with the rezothumb which offers a series of stops throughout the community of communes. Prerequisite to use it: be registered on the application. Finally, your host can be a valuable point of contact on site and help you plan your trip: what luggage can I do without?
