Semide – Village Fleuri "4 fleurs"

Semide, a village of 200 inhabitants, is located 11 km south-east of Vouziers, 30 km from Rethel, and 55 from Charleville.

Located at the bottom of a valley below the limestone plateau of Champagne, the village which takes its name from the stream which has its source there (Sem-Ide), is worth the detour.

It has a rich track record for flower villages: from the first flower in 1988 to the 4th flower obtained in 2001. This national label, renewed every three years since that date (the only one in the Ardennes until 2017), has been renewed in July 2018. The new signs located at the entrances to Semide integrate the concept of “quality of life”.

Walking through the streets of the village, you can visit the church of St Peter and St Paul (2002th-XNUMXth then XNUMXth centuries) with its contemporary stained glass window (XNUMX).
Outside the village, the location of the German cannon from the Great War (classified as a historic monument), the protected natural area of “dry lawn” with its rare flora (wide variety of orchids) and fauna, are also worth seeing. the hamlet of Orfeuil (5km to the south) with its national necropolis and the German cemetery from the 14/18 war.
