SEDAN, Ville Fleurie "3 Fleurs"
Nearly 19 “Sedanais” live in this city, classified as a “City of Art and History”. See the site www.histoire-sedan.com
Among the personalities who have marked the commune, we will remember, among others: Marshal of France Fabert, Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne (Vicomte de Turenne and Marshal of France), Pierre Bayle (professor of history and philosophy), Marshal of the Empire Macdonald, Robert Debré (founding doctor of modern pediatrics), Paul Bazellaire (cellist and composer), Cardinal Congar (theologian), Yannick Noah (tennis player and singer)…
Rich in a varied architectural heritage, SEDAN is worth a stop for:

– the Palais des Princes (mixture of Italian Renaissance and French Classicism)
– the Saint-Charles church, classified as a Historic Monument, it was originally a Temple which in 1685 became a church, following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes.
– the Big Dog Factory
– Dijonval: former royal cloth factory (many former cloth factories form the old center of the city)
– Nassau college: built in 1894 according to the plans of the architect Léon Henri Couty
– Turenne college: built in 1884 by Edouard Depaquit, urban architect
– the Saint Léger church in neo-Gothic style which dates from the 19th century.
