ST LOUP EN CHAMPAGNE

Saint-Loup-en-Champagne – Village Fleuri "1 fleur"

Built in a valley and surrounded by ditches, it is located near the Roman road from Reims to Cologne. It offers the visitor the site of its ancient castle, completely destroyed and a church almost entirely rebuilt, recently, except for the apse.

In 2021, the commune had 341 inhabitants living mainly from agriculture. These are called the Thoins.

To see: Saint-Loup parish church of Saint-Loup-en-Champagne (exterior only), built during the 1879th century, enlarged and embellished four hundred years later, threatened ruin. It was also restored twice, thanks to the combined efforts of the municipality and the State. The transept and the sanctuary were restored in 1880 – 1887. The nave and the bell tower were rebuilt in XNUMX. The architecture of the tower, like that of the naves, is inspired by the flamboyant Gothic lines of the apse. The attic is covered with slate.
