PITCH TERRON

POIX TERRON, Village Fleuri "2 Fleurs"

Year of obtaining the 1st and 2nd Flowers: 2007 and 2015
Poix-Terron is a village of 840 inhabitants known as the Pixiens.
It is located 20km from Charleville-Mézières and depends on the Community of Communes of the Crêtes Préardennaises.
The Vence crosses the village.

St. Martin's Church
Of the XNUMXth century Romanesque church, there remains the western facade and its late Romanesque portal.
The bell of the Saint Martin church was donated by Lord Jean de Boutillac in 1599.
During the 1st World War, the Germans decided to melt down all the Ardennes bells to make shells and cannons. The bell was saved in 1917 by Monsieur Martinet, a teacher, telling the Germans that the French Revolution had spared it. The (German) Ministry of War decided not to melt it down.
On September 30, 1911, it was classified as a historic monument by ministerial decree.

The meadow site named “Espace nature Jean-Marie LELONG” is recognized by the Champagne-Ardenne Natural Conservatory as a remarkable wetland. This area has multiple interests, it serves as an overflow zone of the Vence, thanks to its humidity, nature develops generously there and a surprising biodiversity finds place there. A study carried out in 2007 made it possible to identify more than 120 plant species, 19 bird species, numerous insects, amphibians and mammals. The ecologists who conducted the study counted 25 different natural environments. This area is protected, it is not buildable.

– The Pré Waguet educational orchard is made up of 18 different varieties of apple trees. The plantations were carried out by primary school children in partnership with the Town Hall and the “Les croqueurs de pomme” association.
