Obtaining the 1st and 2nd Flower in 2008 and 2009
Departmental prize for the enhancement of built heritage in 2022
Located 10 km from Charleville-Mézières (NO), Montcornet is a village of 335 inhabitants.
This village is best known for the remains of its medieval fortress. After Sedan Castle, it is undoubtedly the most impressive medieval site in the Ardennes. Located on a rocky outcrop (formerly called “Mont Cornu”), this stone colossus dates from the 11th century. Visits are organized there from March to October.

There are no streams running through the village but ponds all around the castle.

Did you know?
The historian Jules Michelet says he found his vocation by visiting the castle which he describes as a “feudal colosseum”.

Info +: hiking trails (hiking, mountain biking and equestrian) pass through there....
