Located just a few kilometers from Charleville-Mézières, the Old Forges lake extends across the commune of Les Mazures, in the heart of the Ardennes massif within the Ardennes Regional Natural Park, between the Rocroi plateau and the Meuse valley. Easily accessible, this artificial lake, created from an old pond and enlarged in 1949, covers approximately 150 hectares and offers nearly 12 km of shoreline.
The Ardennes Regional Natural Park House is located a short walk from the lake, beside the Forest Museum in Renwez.

Fishing at Lac des Vieilles Forges: a spot popular with enthusiasts
The lake of Vieilles Forges is a top spot for carp fishing, known nationally and even in Europe.
Night fishing for carp is permitted from February 1st to September 30th. The late season, however, remains favorable for excellent predator fishing (perch, zander, pike). It is therefore a renowned spot for carp anglers as well as predator anglers. Fishing can be done from the bank or from a boat (boat, rowboat, float tube), in compliance with current regulations (combustion engines are prohibited). All fishing techniques are permitted (fly fishing, spinning, float fishing, bottom fishing, etc.).
