Arlon-Monthermé-Rimogne (GR16), Malmédy-Bar-le-Duc (GR14) or Namur-Saint Jacques de Compostelle (GR654)… 3 European long-distance hiking trails cross the Ardennes and possibilities of connection with the GR network of the FFRandonnée which further enlarge the playground for hikers.

The GR16: the Semois-Semoy trail

This very beautiful hiking trail runs along the course of the Semois. The GR16 leads from its source in Arlon in Belgium to its confluence with the Meuse, in Monthermé. In France, it becomes Semoy. The GR16 continues to join the GR654 - Chemin de St Jacques de Compostelle - in Rimogne. The French part takes place on the Ardenne massif and passes through many mythical sites: the Longue Roche, the Roc-la-Tour, the Quatre Fils Aymon, the Hermitage rock or the Vieilles Forges lake. This route has more than 200 km including 46 in France.

The GR14: from the Eifel to the Der

This long-distance hiking route links Malmedy (Belgium) to the Der region (straddling the Haute Marne and the Marne) via Sedan, the Marfée, the Château de Rocan, Chémery, the Charterhouse of Mont-Dieu, Buzancy and Grandpré. The GR14 crosses the Ardennes (about 60km) then the Argonne forest and can continue towards Paris or Santiago de Compostela by the GR network.
