Description

In the heart of a remote forest in the Ardennes, the hermit Saint Roger came to settle, after whom the chapel was named. The miraculous spring of Elan is known for its purity and its benefits on fertility. (D/A) On the D33, go left, pass the Manse Abbatiale and find a track on the right, in front of the masonry company. Climb the track, through the woods, to a Y-junction. (1) Stay on the left branch. Cross a large platform. Go down to the road, then turn sharply left in a hairpin bend. Find a path leading off to the right, marked Yellow. (2) Go down this Discovery Trail. Walk to the Chapel of Saint-Roger. (3) Explore the chapel, then leave the marked path and continue along the edge of the woods. The track continues, further on, between the woods and a pond. Arrive at the northeast corner of the pond. (4) Leave the yellow PR-marked path and turn right along the woods. Follow the woods to the road and go back down towards the village, then go to the Manse Abbatiale (D/A) by following the road. This alternative is recommended in particular in wet weather.
