La Roche à Sept-heures
Monthermé, a city nestled at the bottom of the Meuse valley, is dominated by the steep heights of the Envelope. From the ridge path, the spectacle of the great loop unfolds to the horizon.
Description
1/ From the Tourist Office, place Jean-Baptiste Clément, take the main street.
2/ Continue in the direction of Thilay, passing in front of the bank, the gendarmerie, the college and the rescue centre.
3/ A little above, take the ramp (retaining wall) for a few meters, then turn left into rue de l'Égalité which runs along the cemetery and rue de la Promenade. At the end, continue opposite on the path that leads to the Auberge de la Roche-à-Sept-Heures.
4/ Take the forest road towards La Roche-à-Sept-Heures. After the viewpoint, go left. A slight climb, a few stairs and a metal ramp indicate the start of the Chemin des Crêtes which overlooks the loop. Through the woods, reach the Longue Roche site.
5/ Take the tree-lined path just behind.
6/ At the intersection, turn left to reach chemin Saint-Louis and go down the side. At the bottom, continue towards the Tourist Office.
