Monument Américain de Wadelincourt

The American intervention in April 1917 was a huge relief for France when it suffered the Chemin des Dames disaster and the collapse of the Russian front.
On September 3, 1918, Marshal Foch ordered a general offensive with the Meuse as its objective. He engages in the battle of the Argonne General Pershing, commander-in-chief of the American forces, whose troops will push back the adversary until Sedan. On November 6, 1918, the 1st American Division attacked the German line from La Besace to Beaumont and drove the enemy back to the right bank of the Meuse between Villemontry and Autrecourt. During the night of the 6th to the 7th, it took control of the entire left bank as far as Wadelincourt.
The monument ("This Point") marks the end point of the advance of the American troops. On November 10, General Pershing pays a vibrant tribute to his troops.
