L'ancien Tribunal de Vouziers

Built under the Second Empire in an antique style, it was inaugurated on August 14, 1859. We note the rectangular side, the symmetry, the monumentality of the building which is preceded by a tetrastyle portico (4 columns abreast) whose columns Doric supports a triangular pediment.

The poet Paul Verlaine was tried there on March 24, 1885 and sentenced to one month in prison for violence against his mother.

The court ceased operations in July 2009. After hosting business activities, the building is now unoccupied.
