The Ardennes conceals treasures right down to the bowels of the earth. The cave of Nichet is one of them. Naturally dug into the limestone of the Ardennes massif, it reveals to the visitor the mysterious forms with which nature has endowed it.
The Nichet cave is also the refuge of nutons, these small beings endowed with powers that can sometimes be encountered during a walk in the Ardennes forest.
Located in Fromelennes, the cave of Nichet is an invitation for an imaginary getaway to the center of the Earth. This natural site, carved into the limestone, has inspired popular mythology. During your visit, you will sink more than thirty meters into the “bowels of the Earth”, and come across small inhabitants known as Nutons. You will also discover many rooms (the Clair de Lune room, the Lion Gallery, etc.) spread over three levels. Added to this, an atmosphere with light and sound effects (visit in three languages) that accompany the explanations given by your guide. Tour in three languages.

Exploited since 1895, the cave was reopened to the public in 1987. This cave has retained its original character and forms, incontestably, the most charming geological curiosity of the Ardennes.

THE NUTONS: Characteristic of the Ardennes, the Nutons are very small, aged-looking beings endowed with supernatural powers. They are nocturnal creatures, living in caves and dungeons dug into the sides of hills. They are the source of the wealth of certain Ardennes farmers but are also very touchy. They do not hesitate to take revenge for the wrong that has done them. Intelligent and hardworking, in turn, blacksmith, dressmaker, boilermaker, they render many services.
