Synagogue de Sedan

Open during Heritage Days.

Passing in the avenue de Verdun, we pass in front of a remarkable building. This is the synagogue of Sedan. After the war of 1870, the Jewish community of the Alsace and Lorraine region migrated and took refuge in the north of France. In 1878, the synagogue was built on the plans of the architect Mazuel. Both the interior and exterior are sober, made of local yellow stone. A large rose window adorns the facade. Inside, the tabernacle forms an apse and contains the tables of the law. The synagogue was listed as a Historic Monument in 1984.
