Eglise Saint-Etienne
On April 11, 1113, a papal bull recognizes that the monks of Saint-Nicaise de Reims own in Fligny: the banal mill, land, a meadow and a quarter of the tithes. The church, raised in beautiful ocher stone, was fortified after the attacks of the Imperials in 1555 and 1637. A tower reinforces the defense of the church, at its bedside; this tower has been demolished. The base of the masonry is built in brick, probably an old repair.
A drip edge runs around the building. Openings for the lookout and the culverin – fine and long fire mouth, often supported by a fork planted in the ground – perforate the well-equipped wall. Note the reinforcement using wrought iron anchors and tie rods.
