Racines de Jean Mermoz

The Roots Association of Jean Mermoz was founded in September 2006 by Yves Guillaume. he was its president.

The goal is to keep alive the memory of Jean Mermoz in the Ardennes, and to gather as many testimonies as possible concerning the life of Jean Mermoz and his visits to our region.

The wish of Mr. Yves Guillaume, and the members of the association, is to obtain a permanent exhibition room in the old stables of the Château de Rocquigny.

(The castle of Rocquigny purchased in 1934 by Jean Mermoz for his mother, resold by Madame Mermoz around 1953 to a farmer from Rocquigny, this abandoned residence lost its last owner in early 2006. Yves Guillaume, spent his childhood near this castle, it is for this reason, in the hope that the town will buy this residence and its park to restore it, that he founded this association to revive the memory of this world-famous aviator whole, and forgotten in the region of his childhood.)

A small quarterly booklet is written for the members of the association, if you have anecdotes or documents that can be published, do not hesitate to contact us.


The Racines de Jean Mermoz association has at its disposal a collection of about twenty panels on the life of Jean Mermoz, (collection offered in 2007, by the heritage of Air France to our association), and some documents, original or photocopies, which we are always ready to exhibit in the various events that take place in the department of the Ardennes, or neighbors, just let us know a few months in advance to organize ourselves.
