Ancienne filature du Warcan
Today, the Warcan terraces
At the beginning of the 19th century, the Warcan site housed a shearing machine factory, which was converted into a spinning mill during the century. It belonged successively to Gauchez-Dagand, Lécluse, Pingard, and then Rousseaux. In 1944, Pierre Rouy owned it under the company name Société Anonyme de Filature et de Tissage de Sedan (Sedan Spinning and Weaving Company).
Most of the current buildings, dating from the 20th century, have been converted into residences, a garage, and a nightclub. The site, bisected by a branch of the Givonne River, includes a reservoir used as a fishpond and a still-visible sluice gate system. The main workshops, built of limestone rubble, have a metal frame supported by cast-iron columns. Secondary buildings, constructed of concrete blocks, line an internal road near the Givonne.
