Ancienne usine Vynex

The Vynex Establishments are located on the site of a fulling mill created in the 18th century which had a water wheel. The Ernest Valeur tile factory founded in the 19th century took over the buildings of the textile factory. It manufactured mechanical tiles and drainage pipes, the clay came from Singly and Etrépigny. It closed in 1905 and the ovens were destroyed in 1952. In 1920, the site was bought by Charles-Aimé Baudet, helped by his son René, to establish a small celluloid molding factory, mainly producing handles for cycles with sales abroad then converted to plastic sheathing and cables for cycles. The company took the name Vynex in the 1950s, with diversification into wholesale, hardware and DIY items. Extensions were built to the north in the 1950s. It had 15 employees in 1932, 60 in 1951, 160 in 1979.
The walls of the old fulling mill are made of Dom-le-Mesnil limestone rubble and a roof with long cut sides and broken half-hips with slate roofing. They occupy the southern end of the plot, part of which is below the road. The water wheel was in the building located at an angle. The walls of the extensions dating from the 1950s are made of hollow brick and concrete blocks coated with cement, with asbestos cement roofs. Inside, the framework is metal.
