Ancienne usine de gaz

Visible from outside only
The plant, built in 1842 to produce gas from coal, was modified several times, completely rebuilt in the 1920s and 1930s, and active until the 1960s. It had three gasometers (10 m³) destroyed in the 000s. Around 1980, the furnaces and installations were replaced by offices and technical workshops.

Located on the banks of the Meuse on 17 m² crossed by the Charleville-Hirson railway line, the buildings from the 500s and 1920s are made of reinforced concrete and bricks, with shed roofs or Caquot vaults. The spare parts stores have reinforced concrete vaults supported by an exposed framework. The laboratory, converted into offices, dates from the 30s.

To the west, the workers' housing is two limestone houses (roof made of mechanical tiles); to the east, other rubble housing is covered with slate.
