Ancienne Savonnerie Chotin

Today, the Copphignon company
The date of creation of Jean Chotin's soap factory is unknown but we know that it was in operation during the Second World War. At the Liberation, the site was transformed into a scrap metal depot by Mr. Chotin and then taken over in 1980 by the Cophignon heating company which still occupies the premises. The buildings appear to date from the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century. The production building on a square floor at the back of the courtyard adjoins the workers' accommodation. The whole is built in limestone rubble and the bays are framed in brick and limestone cut stone. The long-span roof with exposed wooden frame is covered with slate. The boss's accommodation located between the manufacturing workshop and the street has a square floor and an attic floor, its roof is two-sided and covered with slate.
