Mont Cornu l'Ardenne remonte le temps

Montcornet, a small village in the Valleys and Plateau d'Ardenne, has decided to go back in time. Opening of the site Saturday March 30 in April, May, June on Wednesdays, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 18 p.m. in July and August every day from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m.

In the heart of a park made up of ponds, shale cliffs, hiking trails and forest stands the medieval castle of Montcornet. The old ponds of the castle, the Jeanne de Montcornet chapel (1303), the ruins of an old mill and the old bridge used by the villagers for the Sunday office make it a place steeped in history.

 At the foot of the site, the “Montcornet Remonte Le Temps” association has been working, for several years and with the help of an archaeologist, on the construction of five villages from different periods: Gallic, Gallo-Roman, Merovingian, Carolingian and medieval. Visitors will discover, in a lively and interactive way, the daily life of the people who lived in the north-east of France, from the Gauls until the end of the Middle Ages. Local craftsmen and historical re-enactment troupes will animate the site, transmitting past gestures and techniques on the one hand, and sharing the customs and life of yesteryear on the other.
