Maison forte du Maipas
The fortified house of Maipas was built at the beginning of the XNUMXthe century. The architectural ensemble respects an absolute harmony. The main building is flanked by two pavilions respecting a lozenge plan, like bastions. This building has some small similarities with the castle of Doumely. Raised on two floors, the facade has a pretty cornice with modillions, square, completely enclosing the house. Patterns in the shape of pine cones, an ancient symbol of eternity, decorate the corners of the said cornice. The four-sloped roof, impressive in its height, is reminiscent of the roofs of the pavilions of the Place Ducale in Charleville or the manor houses of the Pre-Ardennes peaks (Les Poursaudes). All the windows bear the trace of solid bars.
