Cimetière militaire allemand

The German military cemetery was created by German troops on 11 April 1917 following the resumption of fighting at the initiative of the French. It contains the graves of 5376 victims killed during the advance of August 1914 and the Battle of Reims in September and October 1914, but the majority of the dead came from the violent fighting in Champagne around the hills surrounding Reims and the Chemin des Dames in April-May 1917, as well as the offensive and defensive battles of the spring and autumn of 1918.

The cemetery also houses the remains of the oldest German soldier who took part in the conflict.
