Ancienne usine de petite métallurgie
Private property, buildings visible from the outside
Founded in 1855 near the confluence of the Goutelle and the Meuse, the Hardy-Capitaine company, created by Auguste Hardy and Pierre Nicolas Crépel, joined forces with François Hervier to produce railway fittings. In 1889, a foundry was established in La Haillette, specializing in the casting of gray cast iron, malleable cast iron and steel. Innovative, it quickly adopted mechanical casting and, before 1914, had 4 cupola furnaces and 10 annealing furnaces, with a capital of 1 francs.
Taken over in 1963 by Nicolas Amand, it produces spheroidal and alloyed cast iron for the railway, agricultural and industrial sectors. In 2008, the factory employed 42 people on a 22 m² site, including 170 m² of covered buildings, 7 brick shed bays, and a period chimney still standing.
