Several buildings are visible from the outside on Rue de l'Industrie and Rue Louis-Gabriel-Croison.
In 1929, Paulin Richier launched the production of concrete mixers in the buildings built in 1931 in Montjoly, Charleville, and expanded his activity in 1933 to include steamrollers. In 1946, he opened the Mecaest-Mézières factory (Nordest I, now destroyed) to assemble mechanical shovels, followed in 1949 by the Fonderie Nouvelle and two Mecaest-Charleville units (Nordest II), dedicated to machining, assembly of bulldozers and compressors. European leader with 12 sites in France, the group was taken over by Ford in the 1970s, then sold to Sum-Tech and Arden-Équipement in 1991. From the year 2000, Visteon manufactured automotive air conditioners there. Today, the buildings are home to several companies also operating in the industrial sector.
The buildings, covering 70 m², are divided into three poles formerly connected by rail. The Richier factory to the west includes the main building from 000 with reinforced concrete walls and exposed frames, extended in the 1931s by shed workshops. To the east, the Fonderie Nouvelle and Nordest II, built in brick and iron paneling, have sheds and long-span roofs. Finally, Mecaest-Charleville (south) has structures in reinforced concrete and metal sheds.
