Eglise Notre Dame de Montcy Notre Dame
Closed to the public
The Notre-Dame church, rebuilt between 1835 and 1837 according to the plans of the architect Labarre de Charleville, bears the date 1837 on its portal. In 1306, it was a branch of the parish of Saint-Lambert d'Arches.
Located in the centre of the village, the church has an elongated plan, with a three-aisled nave of five bays, a semi-outstretched bell tower framed by chapels, and a choir composed of a straight bay and a three-sided apse. The sacristy is built against the left side of the choir. Built in limestone and schist rubble, with stone quoins, the church has rendered interior walls and a marble-paved floor.
The naves of the nave, separated by Tuscan columns, are covered with basket-handle barrel vaults, while the apse has a false ribbed vault. The whole is covered with slate: the nave and the choir by long-span roofs, the apse by a hip, the sacristy by a lean-to and the bell tower by a dome.
