This castle is a remarkable example of Mosane Renaissance architecture, a subtle compromise between military constraints and the splendor of a princely residence (XNUMXth century).

Shaped since the XNUMXth century by successive owners, the castle of Hierges played a decisive role in the transmission of Byzantine knowledge during the returns from the Crusades.
He was also at the heart of the power struggles between François 1er and Charles Quint.
