à CHARLEVILLE MEZIERES

Quartier Art déco

Art Deco marks the urban landscape of Charleville-Mézières. This architectural style, marked by geometric lines and stylized patterns, flourished in the 1920s and 1930s, particularly in the context of post-war reconstruction.
It is especially visible in the Avenue d'Arches district in Mézières (Avenue d'Arches, Promenade de Dülmen, Quai Henri Roussel, Rue Colette) where the buildings and houses are decorated with turrets and bell towers, very beautiful low -reliefs, ornate ironwork balconies…
In Charleville, there are also certain buildings that are typical of this style, such as the Petit Bois stadium (rue du Petit Bois) or the old bathhouses (rue Couvelet), as well as several beautiful houses towards the boulevard Gambetta and the rue de Montjoly.
