Abbaye Notre-Dame de Chéhéry

from July to September (every weekend in July and September, the whole month of August)
guided tours for groups by appointment
The Abbey of Notre Dame de Chéhéry is a ancient Cistercian abbey founded in the 12th century. After a period of prosperity and then unrest during the major events of the Middle Ages (Hundred Years' War, Fronde), it is rebuilt in the mid-18th century in the purest classical style. The monks left it during the Revolution. The existing monument is thus a testimony to the Cistercian revival of the 18th century, and survived the 19th and 20th centuries without too much trouble.

Led by the Friends of Chéhéry Abbey association and its many volunteers as well as by the private owners of the place, a multitude of projects have been launched since 20219 to bring the place back to life: cultural events for all audiences, archaeological excavations, local production (honey, vines), restoration of the buildings, etc. Many reasons to come and discover it!
