Monument aux morts de la première Guerre Mondiale (1914-1918)

Located inside the Church of Saint-Rémi, this war memorial, created just after the First World War, uses the triumphal arch as its central element. On the jambs, marble plaques bear the engraved and gilded names of the deceased. The dates of the war are engraved and gilded on the imposts. At the springing points of the arch on either side, black-painted wooden plaques feature applied gilded wood decorations. Further along the arch itself, marble plaques bear an inscription in engraved gilt lettering. At the center of the arch is a large medal made of fabric and gilded and silvered metal, representing the Croix de Guerre (War Cross). Combining mural painting, marble work, metal casting, and fabric, this piece measures nearly 8 meters wide and is remarkably well-preserved!
