Eglise Saint Sixte de Thelonne

Open on request at the town hall
The church was rebuilt in 1849 (date inscribed on the south exterior wall of the nave) following a subscription collected on December 31, 1848 and the inauguration took place on September 17, 1849. The Saint-Sixte church is located in the southern part of the village and is oriented to the northeast. It has an elongated plan. The single-aisle nave is preceded by a western massif composed of the bell tower, in the center, framed by two storerooms. The choir is in the form of a semicircular apse framed by two sacristies so that on the outside the chevet is flat. The building is built of limestone rubble with a stone chain except for the western facade which is entirely made of medium-sized limestone stone. The floor is covered with limestone slabs and the interior faces of the walls are covered with false-jointed renderings. The walls of the nave and the sacristies are pierced with semicircular bays. The western façade has a door with a straight lintel surmounted by a semi-circular bay with tracery. The top of the stone tower is crossed by a passageway with a wrought iron balustrade. The nave is covered with a false barrel vault and the choir by a cul-de-four. The roof is entirely in slate. The nave and the choir are covered with a long hipped roof and the bell tower by a polygonal spire.
