Eglise Sainte Memmie de Saint Menges

Closed to the public
The Saint-Memmie church, located in the centre of the village, has an elongated plan. The three-aisled nave with five bays, rebuilt between 1763 and 1766, is preceded by a western massif housing the bell tower and two annexes, one of which has a spiral staircase dating from 1576. The choir, largely from the early 1759th century, is framed by two chapels added in 1893. In XNUMX, the ceilings of the nave and the chapel of the Virgin were replaced by brick vaults.
The building is constructed of schist rubble with ashlar chains, except for the bell tower, which is made entirely of limestone. The floor of the choir and the south chapel is made of limestone slabs, that of the north chapel of slate tiles, and the nave of geometric tiles and concrete. The interior walls are rendered and decorated with geometric patterns.
The bays of the nave are basket-handle, and the chevet has a triplet with a large central bay redone. The bell tower has a semi-circular door framed by Tuscan pilasters supporting a triangular pediment. The bays of the nave are vaulted with domes, while the eastern parts are covered with ribbed vaults.
The roof, entirely in slate, includes long-span roofs for the western massif, the nave, and the choir, a lean-to roof for the sacristy, a pavilion for the staircase turret, and a square dome topped with a polygonal spire for the bell tower.
