Eglise Saint Brice de Lumes

Open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or on request from the town hall

The old church, located away from the village and on the banks of the Meuse, became unusable during floods. In 1696, Monseigneur Letellier authorized the construction of a new church in the center of the village. The work was awarded on August 16, 1698 and received on August 11, 1699. The date 1699 is inscribed on the frame of the south window of the sacristy.
The church of Saint-Brice, with a Latin cross plan, is composed of a single-aisle nave, two chapels forming a false transept, and a choir with a five-sided apse and a sacristy. The timber-framed bell tower is located at the ridge of the nave. The building is made of limestone rubble, with rendered interior walls. The floor of the nave is made of polychrome cement tiles, that of the choir in slate checkerboard. The church is covered with slate, with a long-span roof for the nave and the choir, a polygonal croup for the apse, a lean-to roof for the sacristy and a spire for the bell tower.
