Eglise Saint-Arnould d'Haudrecy

Open during the summer period or on request from the town hall
The church was rebuilt according to plans drawn up on 20 April 1844 by the departmental architect Delerue. On the other hand, the first third of the porch of the old church was reused as a projection but its portal was nevertheless rebuilt; this part must date from the 18th century. In a first project dating from 16 March 1844, Delerue wanted to keep the old building and enlarge it by adding side aisles and a new choir.
The Saint-Arnould church is located in the centre of the village and is west-facing. It has an elongated plan. The three-aisled nave with four bays is preceded by a forepart, the ground floor of which is occupied by the turning staircase in timber frame, the upper floor by a gallery supported by two cast iron columns and the ridge by the bell tower in square-plan timber frame. The choir consists of a straight bay, framed by two sacristies, and a three-sided apse. The building is built of limestone rubble with a chain in Dom-le-Mesnil stone. The floor of the central aisle of the nave is covered with black marble tiles and the rest is concreted, and the choir with a checkerboard of black and white marble. The walls are pierced with semi-circular bays and the western door with a flat band is surmounted by a triangular pediment supported by two consoles. The side aisles are ceilinged, the central vessel of the nave and the right bay of the choir are covered with a false barrel vault and the apse with a cul-de-four vault. The roofing of the nave and the right bay of the choir are made of synthetic material and those of the apse and the bell tower are made of slate. The central vessel of the nave and the right bay of the choir are covered with a long-span roof, the side aisles with lean-to roofs, the sacristies with gable roofs and the bell tower with a polygonal spire.
